Job Description & How to Apply Below
Location: Greater London

This job is with Fund Apps, an inclusive employer and a member of my Gwork – the largest global platform for the LGBTQ+ business community. Please do not contact the recruiter directly.

As a Lead Product Designer, you will stand at the forefront of industry compliance innovation, developing and launching services for the world’s largest investment managers. As a market leader, you will be instrumental in scaling design as a function at Fund Apps and ensuring we remain industry leaders across our monitoring, reporting, and surveillance products as we build out a regulatory compliance "one stop shop".

In 2025, Fund Apps merged with Steel Eye, a leader in trade and communications surveillance. This merger presents the significant and exciting challenge of unifying products and platforms across both businesses.

You will be working with the existing Product Designer in aligning the brand and product experiences. This is a hands on role - you will be doing the work and building up a strategy with the view to own the full Product Design function as we scale.

If you are excited by this kind of large-scale integration challenge, you will be defining the design strategy across all product areas, ensuring they remain market-leading, and shaping how the Fund Apps and Steel Eye platforms integrate to build a seamless user experience.

What You’ll Be Working On
  • Vision & Ownership:
Define the strategic direction for Product Design, ensuring UX consistency and best-in-class quality across the entire product suite.
  • Player/Coach Mentality:
Serve as a hands‑on leader, performing direct IC design work early on to meet business needs, while simultaneously mentoring and coaching. Responsibilities will gradually shift to focus on scaling and team growth, as this is not a management‑only role.
  • High‑Impact Communication:
Ensure excellent communication across all business levels. Clearly articulate the intent and value delivered by design initiatives, landing messages effectively with both executives and individual contributors.
  • Influence:
Cultivate influence with senior stakeholders to secure investment and align direction. Translate design complexity into clear, executive narratives, making the value of quality and ‘invisible’ design efforts tangible.
  • Quality Advocacy:
Serve as the design function’s ‘backbone’ by maintaining quality standards, holding the line on critical investments, and balancing pragmatism with excellence. Proactively protect the team’s focus and time from fragmentation under pressure.
  • Scaling the Function:
Scale the Product Design function, initially performing significant individual‑contributor (IC) work alongside the existing product designer. Responsibilities will gradually shift toward coaching and leadership as the team expands.
  • Organizational Alignment:
Build strong partnerships across all business pillars (e.g., Engineering, Product Management, Commercial) and articulate design needs in clear, business terms to influence prioritization and investment.
  • Design Culture & Ownership:
Proactively shape a robust, organization‑wide design culture, promoting the principle that all product teams share ownership of design quality.
  • Team

    Collaboration:

Collaborate closely with product teams to embed design best practices, manage the collective design workload, and proactively shape the team’s operating culture.
What You’ll Bring To The Team
  • Have 8+ years’ experience in a product design role in a dynamic, SaaS business or an investment management firm with proven track record in growing and scaling a design function.
  • Knowledge of delivery best practices with Product teams and Product Design.
  • Excellent communicator with different stakeholders across a business, such as Executive teams, Engineering, Sales and Client Success.
  • Be very comfortable working in growing, fast‑paced, agile environments.
  • Player/Coach - this role will require the successful candidate to contribute as an IC and as a leader to start with - delivering on the business needs.
  • Think in terms of the big picture, but deliver on the details.
  • Take a keen interest in industry trends and be ready to evaluate and incorporate new opportunities into how we work and…
