Position: Experience Designer - GOL App - Midweight
Location: Greater London

Experience Designer – GOL App – Midweight

We’re looking for an experienced UX/UI or Product Designer to help create the best grocery experience for Sainsbury’s millions of app users. This mid‑weight role is part of the Digital Experience Design Team, working closely with product, engineering and stakeholder groups to deliver engaging and inclusive mobile solutions.

What you will do
  • Work with researchers and journey managers to understand customer journeys and pain points.
  • Conduct your own desk and in‑store research to explore and iterate design solutions.
  • Organise design workshops with stakeholders to articulate problems and co‑create solutions.
  • Collaborate with the Design Systems team, content strategists and accessibility specialists to ensure a consistent and inclusive experience.
  • Design, prototype and test concepts using tools such as Figma.
  • Partner with engineers to translate designs and design‑system foundations into production‑ready app interfaces.
  • Iterate and deliver solutions within agile teams across product, design and engineering.
  • Contribute to a dynamic design community, sharing insights and continually improving the customer experience.
What we’re looking for

Experience in designing and prototyping native mobile applications for iOS and Android with a track record of high‑quality, accessible solutions.

Hands‑on experience working with and contributing to design systems and component libraries.

Skills and criteria
  • Strong visual, interface and interaction design skills.
  • Expertise with Figma and other prototyping tools.
  • Experience conducting research and interpreting results.
  • Inclusive design knowledge and ability to meet accessibility standards.
  • Influence, negotiation and stakeholder collaboration.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and quick feedback loops.
  • Confidence in challenging peers and driving design change.
  • Ability to plan and conduct user research, distil findings into actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in applying UX fundamentals, including workshop facilitation, information architecture and clear design documentation.
