UI Designer; Design Systems

To further our expansion, we arenow recruiting for aUI Designer to join our Design System team, producing designs for our award-winning platforms. Reporting directly to the Design System Lead,you willbeworkingacross our
D2C (direct to consumer) AJ Bell platform
to deliveralarge-scale design system across mobile and web.

We are looking for adesignerwith a minimum of 4/5years' experience in UX/UIand a love for UI.This roleislargely focusedon the creation and ongoing maintenance of design system components and asset libraries. It requires a good understanding onhow components work, with experience handing over designs to development as a must-have.

We’relooking for designers whowill enjoy focusing on the details butalsomaintaina macro-level appreciation for how the entire design system behaves.

There’san exciting rebrand underway, alongside a redesign of the AJ Bell app and website.

You will play a key role in shaping our design standards for D2C,working hands-on with UX designers, developers, and product managers to champion the design system and encourage its adoption. Over time,you’llbecome a trusted expert that others look to for guidance and leadership.

• Hands-ondesign:
  
  You are skilled at creating design system components in Figma, with a strong understanding of interaction designand UI best practices.
• UI specialist:
  
  Youare able tocreate high-quality, responsive UI designs that balance usability and accessibility with delightful user experiences.
• Maintain and manage the design system:
  
  Youareconfidentproducingcomponentdocumentation and managing design tokens.
• Design system thinking:
  
  Youare able toapproachsituationsthrougha design systems lens, considering the reusability of design elements and contribute to our documentation.
• Design ownership and influence:
  
  Contribute to the design system strategy across our platforms and support decision-making at the team level.
• Design Systems:
  
  You have extensive knowledge in creating andmaintainingcomponents in a Figma library, bringing creative ideas to help iteration, contributing extensively to the development of ournew design guidelines andcomponentlibraries.
• Collaboration:
  
  Youare able tocollaboratecross-functionally andplay a key role innurturingteam collaboration.
• Decision making:
  
  You can make informed decisionsduringthe design process where youbalanceuser needs, business considerations, accessibility compliance, and use research as a guide.

Whatyou'llhave

• Minimum 4years experience within a UX/UI role
• Good working understandingoffront end practices and atomic design principles
• Excellent knowledge of Figma; confident using autolayout, components, variables and managing libraries.
• Naturally creativeandinquisitive
• Confident communicator and confident giving/receiving feedback
• Comfortable juggling multiple priorities
• Astrongcollaborative and iterative mindset
• Good understandingorexperience of designing with WCAG or A11y guidelines in mind
• Nice tohave:knowledge of Widgetbook, desire to mentor and guide junior members of the team, understanding of user psychology
