Job Description & How to Apply Below
Location: Greater London

We are seeking an Interior Designer with a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience at mid-weight level in the luxury residential and commercial sectors, to work between our Cotswolds and London studio. The ideal candidate will be confident, technically proficient, and capable of working closely with the Design Leads and specialist interior team to help shape the overall vision for each project.

You will also be expected to manage your own clients and projects, working closely with other project team members to drive strong project performance. The role involves delivering high-quality interior design projects from concept through to completion, translating client briefs into creative and detailed design solutions. You will prepare and present design proposals, manage material and finish selections, and oversee the development of bespoke furniture design packages.

Building strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and contractors is essential, as is the ability to proactively resolve design challenges and contribute to a collaborative studio environment.

What we're looking for
  • Deliver creative design projects independently and alongside the other design team members.
  • Translate design concepts and client briefs into detailed presentations and supporting documentation.
  • Confidently communicate the design with the client to ensure a smooth sign‑off process.
  • Responsible for research and selection of appropriate materials that fit within the concept design brief and budget.
  • Build supplier relationships and look for creative and sustainable new approaches.
  • Confidence in working on all project stages in line with RIBA structure.
  • Liaise and coordinate with clients, consultants, suppliers, and the wider professional project teams during all stages of the project.
  • Attend client and site meetings, presenting ideas alongside senior design team members and independently.
  • Ability to problem‑solve.
  • Support the business in its day‑to‑day functions, mentoring junior members of the team when needed.
Experience & Qualifications

We look for a professional with the following background and skills.

Key Skills Required
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, InDesign, Photoshop, Sketch Up, and Microsoft Office.
  • Free‑hand sketching is a bonus but not essential.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, prioritise, and meet deadlines.
  • Self‑motivated, proactive with the ability to take initiative.
  • Good team player, both assisting and supporting team members.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Knowledgeable and passionate about design, with a strong understanding of materials and heritage buildings, and a keen eye for detail.
  • Full, clean UK driving licence.
Benefits
  • Up to 22 days of annual holiday allowance plus bank holidays.
  • Studio closure between Christmas and New Year.
  • Early finish Fridays from June to August, and in December.
  • Staff discounts offered by many suppliers.
  • Birthday day off in addition to your annual holiday allowance.
  • Christmas and birthday presents from Sims Hilditch.
  • Professional development support.
  • Enhanced maternity pay.
  • Refer a friend scheme.
Diversity & Inclusion Statement

At Sims Hilditch, we know that a diverse workforce enriches any creative practice and comprises people from all backgrounds, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, and religion. We also recognise the moral, economic and social reasons to make diversity, inclusion, and equality central to our work.

As has been highlighted by the work of United in Design, there has been a lack of diversity within the UK interior design profession to date. Sims Hilditch know there is more to do, and we are keen to listen. Our ambition is to help remove the barriers to entry and progression in the profession through greater equality across our work and improved recruitment and training of our staff.

That includes widening our search when recruiting new team members and ensuring that any job we advertise underlines the fact that it is open to everyone.
