Associate Urban Designer

Cross Works is looking for an Associate Urban Designer to join its team in London.

We are on the lookout for a talented design team lead with excellent project and team management skills and very strong design capabilities. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a fast-paced creative environment and is able to work across and lead multiple design projects simultaneously, reporting up to their Senior Associate Director on a daily basis.

We're a friendly, enthusiastic and highly motivated collective, growing in order to meet increased demand across a variety of sectors and geographies. We're currently working on a number of projects internationally, spanning a diverse range of typologies and scales, from mixed-use architectural projects through to large-scale / city-wide master planning schemes and mega projects, to technology initiatives in the built environment.

The following knowledge, capabilities and experience will be required in order to be shortlisted for interview. Please read carefully prior to applying to ensure it's a role you would be fit for :

• Architect or urban designer with a minimum of ten years of demonstrable professional experience (i.e. in practice) in architecture and/or urban design
• Exceptional design skills with experience in the management of large-scale international projects and a passion for cities and urban design
• A client-focused problem solver with a propensity to work with clients to curate solutions that meet specific project requirements
• Excellent project lead with team leadership and mentoring skills
• Project task delegation skills and the ability to comfortably run multiple projects concurrently
• Strong presentation and client management abilities
• Excellent communication and presentation skills and an ability to collaborate effectively with wider project teams and consultants
• Ability / interest in supporting directors with resource planning, business development & marketing activities when required
• Comfortable with travel nationally & internationally for key project meetings, site visits & presentations as / when required
• Please note that in-depth knowledge of and the ability to use 3D software are essential for this role. Proficiency in Rhino is absolutely essential, whilst a working knowledge of wider software packages including AutoCAD / GIS / Sketch Up is preferred. Those without this knowledge need not apply for this role
• Strong command of the English language (both written and spoken English are required);
  Additional languages are also useful, so please list these in your CV
