Job Description & How to Apply Below

Do you have what it takes to transform society?

We are looking for a motivated Architect to join Sweco’s Mission Critical team in London, helping design the facilities that support our increasingly digital world.

You’ll work on data centres and other mission critical projects across the EMEA region, collaborating with architects, engineers and clients to develop coordinated, practical and sustainable design solutions.

Whether you already have experience in this sector or are looking to apply your architectural skills to a new challenge, we’d love to hear from you.

What does the role involve?

You’ll take responsibility for architectural projects and design packages through RIBA Stages 2–5, from concept development through technical design and construction support. Depending on the project, you’ll lead defined packages or contribute as part of a wider multidisciplinary team.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing architectural designs that balance client requirements, operational needs, buildability and design quality.
  • Producing and coordinating Revit models, drawings, schedules and technical information.
  • Collaborating with engineers, project managers and clients to resolve design interfaces and deliver coordinated information.
  • Supporting site assessments, feasibility studies and test fits.
  • Reviewing designs against applicable regulations, local requirements and project standards.
  • Reviewing contractor submissions and responding to technical queries during construction.
  • Managing your deliverables, communicating progress and identifying issues early.
What do you need to be successful in this role?

You must hold a UK Part 3 qualification as a minimum, alongside experience delivering architectural projects through RIBA Stages 2–5 within a BIM environment.

You’ll also bring:

  • Strong Revit skills and experience working in collaborative cloud environments.
  • Sound technical design and detailing skills, with an understanding of how buildings are constructed.
  • Experience coordinating architectural information with other disciplines.
  • A good understanding of building regulations, codes and sustainable design principles.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, consultants and colleagues.
  • The ability to manage priorities across multiple projects and deliver accurate information to agreed deadlines.
  • Attention to detail, initiative and a practical approach to solving design problems.

Experience in data centres or other mission critical facilities, ARB registration and experience working on European projects would be beneficial, but are not essential. We welcome applications from candidates with relevant experience in other sectors who are keen to develop their expertise in mission critical design.

What’s in it for you?

You’ll work on technically challenging international projects within an integrated architecture and engineering team, gaining exposure to different clients, design approaches and regional requirements.

We offer an inclusive, collaborative, friendly and flexible working environment where colleagues are encouraged to share knowledge, take responsibility and develop their skills. You’ll have opportunities to deepen your technical expertise, build experience in mission critical design and progress your career.

If you’re looking for a role where your architectural skills can help shape essential infrastructure, we’d love to hear from you.
