This is a great time to join The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a Consultant in Palliative Medicine. We are seeking a Locum Consultant in Palliative Medicine to replace a retiring colleague. The postholder will focus on community palliative care and regular in‑reach to hospice, with particular opportunity for those with a subspeciality interest in palliative care for neurodegenerative conditions. The postholder will be a committed clinician with a track record of excellent clinical service delivery, service improvement, teaching and training, as identified in the person specification.
It is a requirement of the post that every doctor takes part in annual job planning and appraisal as part of the revalidation cycle.
The post-holder will report to the Divisional Director of Unplanned Care and their job plan will be negotiated annually. It is a 6.5 PA post – 5 PA direct clinical care (DCC) and 1.5 supporting professional activities (SPA). SPA includes a clinical supervisor role for GP trainees at hospice, audit and personal CPD. Personal CPD must be included as part of the annual appraisal and is mandatory for revalidation.
The post holder will work with consultant colleagues and other health‑care professionals in the Directorate to provide an effective and comprehensive service for patients with palliative care needs and support continuing service developments.

- Full GMC Registration with License to Practice
- MRCP (UK) or equivalent
- On GMC’s specialist registrar or within 6 months of CCT from the date of the interview
- CCT in Palliative Medicine +/- General Internal Medicine (or equivalent)
- Evidence of formal teaching experience
- Higher degree e.g. MD or PhD
- Published works and previous experience of participation in research
- Experience of working in hospice
- Experience of working in the community
