Palliative Care Physician
Applications are invited for a 0.8 WTE Consultant post in Palliative Medicine. The successful applicant will join the specialist palliative care team at Meadow House Hospice, based at the Ealing site of London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust. The post holder will work alongside consultant‑level staff, including a Lead Clinician, two other part‑time consultants, and an Associate Specialist. Together, this team provides specialist palliative care across Meadow House Hospice, the London Boroughs of Ealing and Hounslow, and Ealing Hospital.
This is an 8 PA role, with responsibilities spanning both the community and the inpatient ward. The post holder will support the ward medical and nursing teams. There is also the possibility to join the on‑call rota (one in five), which can be discussed and negotiated lications are welcomed from doctors who hold a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training or equivalent in palliative medicine, as well as those within six months of their final training date at the time of interview.

Provide consultant‑level specialist palliative medicine expertise to patients, palliative care teams, and other colleagues across Meadow House Hospice, the community, and hospital settings. Deliver direct clinical care in both the inpatient unit and community (including care homes, outpatients, and domiciliary visits). Work as part of the multidisciplinary specialist palliative care team, supporting and collaborating with medical, nursing, and allied health professionals.
Offer clinical supervision and support for trainees and junior doctors, and liaise with educational and clinical supervisors. Participate in the on‑call rota (with the possibility to negotiate participation), providing 24/7 advice and support to healthcare professionals, patients, and carers across the London Boroughs of Ealing and Hounslow. Attend and contribute to weekly multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and caseload reviews. Lead and support service development, quality improvement initiatives, and audit projects within the specialist palliative care service.
Contribute to the education and training of medical and non‑medical staff on palliative and end‑of‑life care topics, including undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. Maintain personal professional development, including CPD, appraisal, and revalidation. Participate in clinical governance, ensuring delivery of care in accordance with evidence‑based practice and Trust policies.
