The post holders will be attached to Medicine for the Elderly for 6 months, during which time they will spend 4 months carrying out additional duties in General Medicine and 2 months gaining additional experience in Dermatology.
Main duties of the jobThe posts are approved for specialty training in General Practice. Ward-based clinical commitments of the post are based exclusively at St Mary's Hospital.
The General responsibilities of post-holders are to:
- Daily to review all patients admitted in their ward areas and to supervise the FY1 and FY2's.
- Provide medical cross-cover to the all patients in the elderly care department where necessary
- To attend multidisciplinary meetings and lead these meetings in the absence of the consultant or registrar
- To review daily, dermatology inpatients (in addition twice weekly ward rounds with the SpR and attend and present patients at a weekly consultant ward round on a Thursday).
- To attend Dermatology outpatient clinics as specified on the timetable.
- To clerk in acute Dermatology admissions including organisation of investigations and handover to the on-call ward ST.
- To cover the on-call Dermatology bleep every Thursday afternoon (SpRs at teaching). ST not expected to see patients but to hand over referrals to the SpR on Friday morning.
- To take part in the General (Internal) Medical on call rota
- To teach junior medical/paramedical staff and Year 3 and Year 5 medical students of Imperial College School of Medicine.

Person Specification Qualifications- On GMC Register with license to practice
- MBBS or equivalent
- Evidence of achievement appropriate to level of appointment at ICHNT
- Must have at least completed Foundation training, IMT 1& 2 or equivalent
- MRCP Part 1 and 2 (written)
- Experience at SHO level in Elderly Medicine essential
- NHS work experience (not including observership
- Are able to speak and write English to the appropriate standard necessary to fulfill the job requirements
- Competent in performing and teaching basic clinical procedures
- Ability to manage safely, and appropriately elderly patients
- Ability to manage acutely unwell patients and escalate care where needed
- Aware of own limitations, consults senior colleagues appropriately

Depending on experience £44,170 - £67,610 per annum +LDN Weighting + 1C banding
