TRUST DOCTOR (eqv to ST3+) IN CLINICAL ONCOLOGY

We are recruiting to the post of Trust Doctor in Clinical Oncology at the St. Bartholomew’s Cancer Centre, part of St. Bartholomew’s Hospital in the City of London. This post would suit a Doctor seeking a career in Medical Oncology, Clinical Oncology, Haemato-Oncology or another Medical Speciality.
Barts Health NHS Trust has an international reputation for providing excellent cancer care. The centre is a major tertiary referral centre for all forms of adult malignant disease for the 1.5 million people in the City and North‑East London. The Cancer Centre also provides specialist services for patients from Essex and across the country. Opened in 2011, the Cancer Centre has 75 acute inpatient beds across four wards, which includes a bone marrow transplantation unit undertaking 140 transplants a year.
Two wards are designated for Solid Tumour Oncology and the other two for Haemato‑Oncology. The Cancer Centre has two chemotherapy day units and provides outreach services to Whipps Cross, Newham and Homerton hospitals. The St. Bartholomew’s Cancer Centre is an integral part of the Cancer Research UK Clinical Academic Unit and Barts Institute of Cancer.
Experienced doctors who have completed Core Medical Training or equivalent are invited to apply.
This post is at ST3 level and would suit a doctor looking to a career in Clinical oncology, medical oncology or haematology or other medical specialties. The postholder will work with a team of 40 Consultant Clinical and Medical Oncologists, ward-based FY and ST doctors and also the wider multi‑disciplinary team in a Cancer Centre. Oncology inpatients are managed on 5A and 5B wards in the new Barts Cancer Centre.
There are 32 inpatient beds. The inpatient service is supported by dedicated ward staff with expertise in oncology nursing and physiotherapy as well as a team of clinical nurse specialists.
The radiotherapy department is equipped with cutting‑edge equipment allowing delivery of the latest treatment techniques. The successful candidate will benefit from training and experience in radiotherapy in line with the existing numbered trainees.
Applications for the above post are invited from suitably qualified doctors. Experience in Oncology or Haematology is desirable. Similarly, research fellows committed to Medical Oncology, Clinical Oncology, or Haematology and looking for a post to apply for an NTN from are encouraged to apply. MRCP is desirable but not mandatory.
On‑call is non‑resident and is in conjunction with 23 other doctors. The unit is an integral part of the Cancer Research UK Clinical Academic Unit and Barts Institute of Cancer.
