This is an exciting opportunity to undertake a full-time clinical fellowship within the interstitial lung disease service at Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Trust. The successful applicant will be at ST5 level or above and join an internationally recognised, research-active multi-disciplinary team of clinicians caring for one of the largest cohort of patients with interstitial lung diseases in the world.
Applicants will hold Specialist Registrar status within GSTT and should hold MRCP (or equivalent) and have reached at least ST5 (or post-CCT) in respiratory medicine.

Main duties of the jobThe fellowship will offer a balance of clinical training in the management of interstitial lung disease alongside active participation in clinical trials and translational research within King's Centre for Lung Health, based at Guy's Hospital. Whilst this post is initially offered for 1 year, there may be the opportunity to extend this in order to undertake an MD or PhD through King's College London.
There will be an opportunity for the post-holder to participate in clinical and theoretical postgraduate and undergraduate teaching within the Department including both MBBS and for allied health professionals.
All medical and dental staff are expected to take part in clinical governance activity, including clinical audit, clinical guideline and protocol development and clinical risk management. They will be expected to produce evidence of their contribution in these areas and their audit of their own clinical work as part of their appraisal.

The Directorate of Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care and Sleep based at Guy's and St Thomas' (forming part of the GSTT Heart Lung and Critical Care Clinical Group) is committed to delivering excellent patient care whilst meeting the Government targets for A&E waiting times, cancer and 18 weeks. The ILD service sits within this Directorate.
The directorate provides a comprehensive service for inpatient and outpatient settings from a body of 20 consultants. Respiratory consultants also contribute to the care of general medical and high-dependency patients.

Person Specification Qualifications & Training- MRCP (or equivalent)
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) qualification
- National training number in respiratory medicine in the UK or other country
- Presentation of a research abstract / poster at a National or International meeting
- Peer-reviewed publications in the field of respiratory medicine
- Ability to perform fibre optic bronchoscopy including BAL, epithelial brushings and endobronchial biopsies under supervision (min experience of 50 procedures)
- Clinical experience of managing patients with interstitial lung disease
