About the role

We are looking for a Primary Care Nursing Clinical Adviser to join our Centre of Clinical Expertise (CoCE) team. The CoCE provides clinical insight and guidance and builds credibility with clinical audiences on behalf of Macmillan, so we’re seen as a trusted, relevant, and up to date, clinically informed organisation.

The purpose of this role is to advise and specifically inform one of our four strategic objectives which is to support people with cancer and other long term conditions.

You will act as a subject matter expert drawing on clinical skills and experience to support, service and guide internal programmes of work, as well as providing clinical leadership, insight, knowledge and expertise in the management of people with long term conditions in primary care. You will bring an in-depth understanding of the health and social care landscape and support neighbourhood health work in Macmillan.

You will feed clinical insight to key internal stakeholders to inform relevant projects and workplans, and advise on the development of strategic programmes of work across the organisation to support the achievement of our desired outcomes for people living with cancer.

About you

We’re looking for a nurse with extensive experience in active clinical practice primary care with a particular focus on supporting patients with long term conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes, dementia, heart failure and cancer.

This is a part-time role and you will need to remain embedded in clinical practice. You will also need to be able to fulfil the required sessional commitment per week and have flexibility with sessional commitments to fulfil the aims of the role.

You will bring the following skills and experience:

  • Qualification and continued registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a nurse (essential)
  • Extensive experience in active clinical practice, with expertise in supporting people with long term conditions
  • Experience in an educational, academic or representational role in primary care, Integrated Care Board, Cancer Alliance and/or other relevant network (desirable but not essential)
  • Strong networking and interpersonal skills
  • Strong communicator with an engaging style
