Overview

Consultant in Gynaecology with a Special Interest in Minimally Invasive Endoscopic Surgery/Endometriosis – 2 x 10 PA substantive posts – Royal Free Hampstead Site.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for 7 consultants in Gynaecology to join us at the Royal Free Hospitals NHS Trust to address the increasing general gynaecology and cancer workload across all our sites.

The candidate is expected to have a broad range of skills in gynaecology but these posts are looking specifically for candidates with a particular special interest in minimally invasive Endoscopic Surgery/Endometriosis. We are also looking to appoint consultants with interest in urogynaecology, gynaecology oncology, menopause and generalists. There is a small amount of obstetrics on‑call component, but this is subject to change as the department’s requirements change.

Working

for the Organisation

There will be regular weekend working up to 21 weekends a year (Saturday further details from line managers). Whilst the main working site will be Royal Free Hospital Hampstead site, there will be flexible cross‑site working to include Barnet General, Chase Farm, Edgware Community and Finchley Memorial hospitals.

The successful candidate will be supported by a multi‑disciplinary team of gynaecologists, specialist nurses and allied health professionals. The candidate should be keen to work as part of a team and develop good relationships with other staff within and outside the department. Engagement with innovation, audit, quality improvement and research will be expected.

Job Description and Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate is expected to be fully trained in all aspects of general gynaecology, independent at elective and emergency day‑case and inpatient gynaecology surgery, competent at managing gynaecological emergencies including early pregnancy complications.

  • Develop and deliver high quality general gynaecology services.
  • Perform elective and emergency gynaecology surgery, day case and inpatient procedures.
  • Manage gynaecological emergencies, including early pregnancy complications.
  • Lead and participate in clinical audit, quality improvement and research projects.
  • Engage with innovation initiatives and contribute to guideline development.
