NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non‑clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
Applications are invited for the above post commencing in August 2025 at the Royal Hospital for Children at the South Glasgow Hospitals campus. The post is to provide cover for a fixed term until July 2026 but may be extended depending on service need.
This post is primarily aimed at individuals pursuing a paediatric surgical career wishing to gain exposure to, and experience in a high‑quality surgical placement in a tertiary paediatric centre. The post will give successful applicants the opportunity to develop and expand on their experience in Surgical Paediatrics. The post will offer successful applicants the opportunity to develop their clinical and professional competence in a purposeful and supervised manner as an assist to overall CV development.
The post would be most suitable for doctors who are already committed to a career in Paediatric Surgery and wish to develop their skills in a busy tertiary centre.
Applicants who have not undertaken a UK foundation programme within 3.5 years of the advertised post start date, will be asked to submit a Certificate of Readiness to Enter Specialty Training (CREST). The CREST form must be completed by a consultant who has worked with you for a minimum continuous period of three months whole‑time equivalent wholly within the 3.5 years prior to the advertised post start date for which you are applying.
