Applications are invited for one part time (6.5 PA) Consultant in Neonatology based at the Evelina London Children's Hospital. Our consultant team expanded in the autumn of 2023 with funding from the London Operational Delivery Network to ensure tier 3 compliance with BAPM recommendations. We have one locum in post and are now looking for substantive appointments.

We are one of the lead perinatal centres for the South London Neonatal Operational Delivery Network, providing care for our local population of Lambeth and Southwark, across the South East London LMNS, and our extended network for specialist services across Kent, Surrey, Sussex and beyond.

There are over 6500 births per year on-site, many of which are high risk due to both our inner‑city local population and the co‑location of tertiary women's and children's services, and our neonatal unit supports the care of all newborns including those with complex cardiac and surgical problems.

Clinical duties include providing clinical leadership, hands on clinical care and training in neonatal intensive, high dependency and special care as well as support to transitional care and the postnatal ward. The postholder will be expected to participate in the rota to cover one general neonatal outpatient clinic.

Consultants are allocated to periods of time in each clinical area including out of hours cover: the work pattern reflects the intensity of out of hours work with the expectation of remaining on site with accommodation provided.

There are close working relationships with many subspecialties but especially fetal medicine and fetal cardiology, paediatric cardiology and paediatric surgery, there are regular and dynamic multi‑disciplinary meetings.

The postholder will have the opportunity to contribute to the full range of activities including teaching, educational supervision, quality improvement and clinical research.
