NHS Medical & Dental:Specialist Grade Job overview
We have one full-time in-patient specialist doctor post in the Hospital Division, based in the Highgate (West) Mental Health Centre. In the Highgate West Mental Health Centre there are ten wards: two Psychiatric Intensive Care Units and eight treatment wards. The post would be based mainly on one ward, but with occasional weekend work (approx. 1 in 6
-yet to be decided). The weekend work would be 9am to 5pm and the role would be to provide senior doctor input to help with 7 day flow and patient safety.
The post is in the Acute Adult Inpatients Service of the Trust. It is based at both the Highgate (West) Mental Health Centre, Dartmouth Park Road, London, N19 5NX
. Each acute ward has sixteen or seventeen beds. Each PICU has twelve beds. In addition there is a Place of Safety and Mental Health Crisis Assessment Service on the site.

Person specification Qualifications- Full GMC registration
- S12 approval
- MRCPsych or equivalent qualification
- At least 3 years of post-registration experience of working in psychiatry
- Experience of leading ward rounds and other clinical reviews
- Experience of preparing MHRT reports and presenting at MHRTs
- Willingness to work occasionally at weekends
- Good clinical skills
- Good interpersonal skills
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
