Locum Consultant in Clinical Oncology Urological & Lower GI Malignancies

We are looking to appoint a Locum Consultant in Clinical Oncology with a special interest in urological and lower gastrointestinal malignancies. This is a 6 month fixed‑term locum appointment, based at the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre (MVCC) in Northwood and Northwick Park Hospital (NPH) in Harrow, part of the London North West University Hospitals Trust (LNWUHT). The post comprises 10 programmed activities (PAs) and an on‑call commitment.
The post holder will contribute to the delivery of high‑quality, patient‑centred urological and GI oncology care across Northwick Park Hospital and MVCC. They will be responsible for specialist outpatient care, participation in MDT meetings and the safe delivery of both SACT and radiotherapy. They will also be expected to contribute to teaching and training across the multidisciplinary workforce, and will engage fully in directorate‑level clinical governance activities including audit, incident review, quality improvement, and adherence to Trust and national cancer standards.
Mainduties of the job
- Maintenance of high‑quality patient centred care

- Active participation in continuing medical education

Person Specification Qualifications- Entry on GMC Specialist Register or, be within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview or, provide GMC confirmed eligibility for entry on the Specialist Register
- College Fellowship RCR or qualification of an equivalent level
- Broad range of experience in Clinical Oncology in particular specialist interest in thoracic malignancies.
- Experience of supervising undergraduates, doctors in training and other colleagues
- Ability to offer and be accountable for full and independent expert diagnostic opinion
- Can evidence leading on patient safety issues and achieving a change in practice
- Published papers and original work in peer reviewed journals
- Demonstrate an understanding of the basic principles of audit, evidence based practice and clinical quality improvement initiatives
- Demonstrable experience and participation in research
- Able to evidence engagement with clinical governance and the identification of errors and the learning from errors.
