Rheumatology Clinical Fellow

The Department of Rheumatology is delighted to invite applications for a Senior Clinical Fellow (ST4+). This six‑month appointment replaces one of our specialist training posts and offers comprehensive experience in both acute inpatient rheumatology and specialist outpatient clinics, including services in vasculitis, early inflammatory arthritis, and osteoporosis.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be allocated an educational supervisor and will have access to a range of training and professional development opportunities, including weekly consultant‑led teaching sessions, as well as regular clinical governance and audit meetings.

This post would be ideal for a doctor with an interest in rheumatology who is seeking to gain further experience prior to applying for a national training number.

Person Specification Professional Qualifications
  • Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practise
  • Working at local appointment grade code MT04 or higher
Experience
  • MRCP
  • Completion of SCE in Rheumatology
Skills and Abilities
  • Experience in managing acute rheumatology inpatients
  • Experience in running general rheumatology outpatients
  • Track record of clinical governance, audit, management and IT skills
  • Experience in managing patients with HLH
Personal and People Development
  • Accountability; ability to take responsibility, lead, make decisions and exert appropriate authority. Interpersonal Skills
  • Ability to see patients as people, ability to empathise and work co‑operatively with others.
  • Track record of research, publications/ understanding / knowledge of Research ethics
