We are recruiting to the role of Moorfields South Glaucoma Clinic Lead. The post-holder will take on their own personal clinical workload consisting of a mixture of virtual review work and face-to-face clinics at our Moorfields Eye Clinic at the Nelson Health Centre in Wimbledon. The post also includes one session of SPA time to support the management of optometry-delivered glaucoma services within the South division of Moorfields, and so provides an exciting opportunity for any experienced glaucoma optometrist to step into an operational role and progress their career.

The post-holder will, wherever possible autonomously deliver a wide range of advanced complex and non-routine work with responsibility for patient examination and complex clinical decision making.

Summary of duties:

• To be responsible for and personally deliver a wide range of highly specialised optometric care in an advanced extended role across the 3 elements of the Glaucoma service delivery model:
  Consultant-Led Clinic, Optometrist – Led Clinic, Remote review (Virtual) Clinic
• To be the Clinical Lead Optometrist in the designated clinic and to have overall responsibility for the clinical care of the patients seen in the clinic.
• To participate in clinical audit, teaching, research as required
• To provide teaching and supervision to registered Optometrists / other clinical staff if required.
• The postholder will also undertake the role of Moorfields South Glaucoma Clinic Lead which will involve taking on responsibility for the organisation of optometry staff within the glaucoma service in Moorfields South. There will be an expectation to take on line management responsibility as well as support the divisional lead optometrist in managing the glaucoma optometry-led (both face-to-face and virtual) clinics in Moorfields South in matters related to staffing and governance.
