Job Summary

Job Summary

We are looking to appoint a Locum Consultant in Clinical Oncology with a special interest in gastrointestinal malignancies. This is a 6‑month fixed‑term locum appointment, based at the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre (MVCC) in Northwood and The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The post comprises 10 programmed activities (PAs) and an on‑call commitment.

The post holder will contribute to the delivery of high‑quality, patient‑centred GI oncology care across MVCC and Hillingdon Hospital. They will be responsible for specialist outpatient care, participation in MDT meetings and the safe delivery of both SACT and radiotherapy, including stereotactic radiation within the regional SA  facility. They will also be expected to contribute to teaching and training, and will engage fully in directorate‑level clinical governance activities including audit, incident review, quality improvement and adherence to trust and national cancer standards.

At Mount Vernon, the post holder will be expected to work with members of the GI and SA  MDTs planning and supervising the oncology treatment of patients to include the safe delivery of SACT and radiotherapy. At Hillingdon Hospital the post holder will work closely with the GI multidisciplinary team to provide a safe and high‑quality outpatient oncology service.

Person Specification Essential Qualifications
  • Entry on GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview, or GMC confirmed eligibility for entry on the Specialist Register
  • College Fellowship RCR or qualification of an equivalent level
Experience
  • Broad range of experience in Clinical Oncology, with a particular specialist interest in gastrointestinal malignancies
  • Experience supervising undergraduates, doctors in training and other colleagues
  • Evidence of leading on patient safety issues and achieving changes in practice
Skills
