Main duties of the job

Our department is dedicated to delivering evidence-based emergency medicine while upholding the highest operational standards. We are driven by a philosophy of continuous improvement, supported by a co-located, GP-led Urgent Care Centre that ensures patients are streamed efficiently to the most appropriate level of care.

We are proud of our vibrant educational culture. The department prioritises teaching and training, offering regular opportunities for professional development, including bedside teaching from consultants, board rounds, internal training days, and journal clubs. These have been instrumental in the success of our trainees and Trust doctors in their RCEM examinations.

Furthermore, we foster a strong commitment to quality improvement and research, empowering our team to constantly enhance the treatment and care we provide for our patient population.

About Us

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has a thriving and expanding Emergency Department with a secure future which saw approximately 165,000 attendances in 2019-19 (including attendances to our co located UCC). In addition approximately 100 patients per day are seen in the Minor Injuries Unit at our Mount Vernon Hospital site.

The department has a history of innovation in patient care and has a continuing personal development programme to support on-going service development.

You will have the opportunity to help shape the future direction of the department and take part in Hospital-wide initiatives to improve Emergency Care and the patient experience.
