A Junior Clinical Fellow is sought to work as part of the specialist Upper GI Surgery team at Imperial College NHS Trust, starting ASAP. The successful candidate will be an SHO or equivalent with experience in Upper GI Surgery.
About the ServiceThe Upper GI surgical service moved to the Hammersmith (HH) site in March 2019. It is the regional upper GI cancer unit for north‑west London and parts of Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire, offering a range of routine and highly specialised surgical procedures.
Key Clinical Responsibilities- Participate in patient care and on‑call duties, attending out‑patients, theatre sessions covering UGI and occasionally HPB patients on ward.
- Cover activities of the UGI surgical team (ward rounds, clinics and theatre sessions) and assist with UGI patients on ward.
- Provide General Surgical on calls within Hammersmith Hospital, covering UGI and Endocrine patients out of hours.
- Participate in monthly committee and operational meetings, ad hoc meetings, daily morning assembly and weekly MDTMs.
- Attend departmental grand rounds and a regular teaching programme for SHOs and registrars.
Opportunities for research exist through Imperial College, with all oesophago‑gastric consultants holding academic appointments and active research groups.
Employment Details- Contract length: 4 months to cover maternity leave.
- On‑call frequency: 1 in 7 non‑resident after 8 pm.
