Clinical Research Fellow

The post-holder will be part of an innovative research team led by Professor Mariya Moosajee, Professor of Ophthalmology at UCL and Consultant Ophthalmologist in the Genetic Service at Moorfields Eye Hospital. The principal aim for this post will be to facilitate research and a AAV gene therapy clinical trial for adult and paediatric patients with retinitis pigmentosa secondary to Bardet Billed syndrome.

The individual will be involved in the detailed phenotyping of patients with inherited retinal disease to identify suitable participants for clinical trials and natural history studies. They will also see the recruited trial / study patients at their screening, baseline and follow-up visits.

• Collect genetic and clinical data (including history, examination findings, any investigations)
• Collate in custom-designed databases
• Work collaboratively with other members of the research team and clinical colleagues
• Recruit and co‑ordinate patients for studies and clinical trial
• Organise, maintain and analyse project data
• Responsibility for clinical data management and liaison with the lead investigator
• Participate in weekly laboratory meetings
• Active participation in other ongoing research projects
• Achieve goals agreed in discussions with line management
• Present the results of the project in national and international meetings
• Attend genetic clinics
