This is a replacement post. The remit of the postholder/s will be to work within the multi–disciplinary team providing and further developing care for patients within the service. In addition, the individual will be required to play an active role in the general workload of the Care Group while having a significant commitment to teaching and training of junior staff.

Main duties of the job

To work with other middle grade performing day-to day care of the Gastroenterology patients in Rays of Sunshine Ward and/or Day Case Unit.

To maintain high quality communication both spoken and written with patients, parents, GP’s and referring consultants

To attend endoscopy sessions, Gastroenterology outpatient clinics and also look after Gastroenterology patients who attends Phillip Isaac Day Case unit for hydrogen breath tests, Urea breath tests, impedance pH study, food challenge, pancreatic function tests, Video capsule enteroscopy and mono clonal antibody infusions. Opportunities are available to get experience in therapeutic endoscopic procedures including bleeding control (variceal banding, injection, clips etc), RNY loop enteroscopy & balloon enteroscopy, polypectomy, PEG and stricture dilation.

Attendance on consultant led ward rounds and MDT meetings and opportunity to attend adult gastroenterology meeting. Opportunities to attend specialist clinics such us joint GI/Liver clinic, Short Gut clinic, Gastro/Allergy clinic, Feeding clinic, coeliac clinic, adolescent transition clinic endoscopy review clinic and tertiary level constipation clinic.
