English Teacher

Position: English Teacher (Contract)
English Teacher (GCSE & Functional Skills)

We are seeking a passionate and committed English Teacher to deliver GCSE and Functional Skills English to learners agedand adults, helping students of all backgrounds achieve meaningful progress and confidence in their literacy skills.

About the Role:

You will teach Entry Level to Level 2 (GCSE) English across college sites, contribute to curriculum development, support learners pastorally and academically, and play an active part in the wider English department. This role is ideal for someone dedicated to inclusive education and experienced in delivering impactful English teaching.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver engaging English lessons across GCSE and Functional Skills pathways
Develop inclusive teaching strategies that support achievement, retention and progression
Prepare schemes of work, learning materials and assessments
Provide regular feedback and tutorial support to help learners reach their goals
Participate in admissions, enrolment, induction and learner tracking
Maintain accurate course records and support examination processes
Work collaboratively with colleagues to design and evaluate the English curriculum
Uphold safeguarding, equality, diversity, and GDPR practices

Person Specification:

Degree in English or Level 5 Literacy specialism (desirable)
Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one
Experience teaching GCSE and Functional Skills English
Strong classroom delivery and material-preparation skills
Ability to meet the academic and pastoral needs of diverse learners
Team-focused and committed to inclusive, high-quality education
