We are a supportive and inclusive educational organisation dedicated to providing high-quality tutoring and learning support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in Newham. Our mission is to ensure that every student, regardless of their challenges, has the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential. We are currently seeking an experienced and compassionate Outreach Tutor to join our dynamic team and support SEN students in a variety of settings across Newham.

Role Overview :
As an Outreach Tutor, you will work closely with students with SEN, offering tailored, one-to-one or small group support in both mainstream and special educational settings. You will create and implement individualised learning plans, using a range of teaching strategies and resources to meet the diverse needs of students. This is a great opportunity for someone passionate about making a difference in the lives of young learners and helping them achieve their academic and personal goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide high-quality, personalised tutoring to students with SEN, both in schools and pt teaching methods to suit individual learning styles and needs, ensuring all students feel supported and engaged.
Work closely with SENCOs, teachers, and parents to track student progress and adjust learning plans accordingly.
Foster an inclusive, positive, and encouraging learning environment.
Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to parents and educational professionals.
Help students develop their social, emotional, and academic skills.
Promote independent learning and help students build confidence in their abilities.

Key

Skills and Experience:

Proven experience working with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ideally in an outreach or tutoring capacity.
Knowledge of different SEN categories (e.g., autism, dyslexia, ADHD, speech and language needs).
Strong communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and school staff.
Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt to a wide range of learning needs.
A proactive and solution-focused approach to problem-solving.
A passion for education and helping children achieve their full potential.
A teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS) or relevant SEN training (e.g., SENDCO, SEN TA experience) is desirable but not essential.
