Position: Temporary English Teacher – Independent School (January–July 2026)
Location: Catford

Realise Education / Complete Classroom Services are working in partnership with a well-established independent school in Lewisham to recruit a Temporary Teacher of English for a 6-month supply role.

This highly regarded school is known for its academic excellence, small class sizes, excellent resources and forward-thinking approach to education. The successful candidate will be joining a supportive department within a diverse and high-achieving school community.

The Role

You will be responsible for teaching English Language and English Literature to GCSE level, contributing to the department’s strong academic outcomes and maintaining the school’s high standards of teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities

* Teach English Language and Literature up to GCSE

* Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons in line with departmental schemes of work and school policies

* Set, mark and assess classwork and homework regularly

* Support internal examinations, coursework and controlled assessments, including marking and moderation

* Prepare for and attend Parents’ Evenings and other school events

* Work collaboratively with colleagues to support pupil progress

Person Specification

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent

* Proven experience teaching English to GCSE level

* Strong classroom management skills

* Ability to inspire and motivate students

* Commitment to maintaining high academic standards
