English and Maths Tutor

Job Title: English & Maths GCSE Tutor
Location: Bexley, London
Pay Rate: £25-£35 per hour
Hours: 1-2 hours per week
Contract Type: Temporary | Part-Time | Term-Time Only

Prospero Teaching is seeking an experienced and supportive English & Maths GCSE Tutor to provide 1:1 and small-group tuition to secondary-aged students (KS3/KS4) across Bexley
.

This role involves supporting students working towards GCSE English and Maths
, helping them build subject knowledge, confidence, and effective exam techniques.

The successful tutor will take a student-centred and structured approach
, tailoring sessions to individual learning needs and working collaboratively with families and schools to support academic progress.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, personalised tuition in GCSE English and Maths
• Support students with exam preparation, revision strategies, and coursework
• Identify learning gaps and adapt teaching methods to support progress
• Build students’
  confidence, motivation, and independent learning skills
• Track progress and provide regular feedback to students and parents/carers
• Prepare students for mock exams and final GCSE assessments

Requirements

• Experience tutoring English and/or Maths at GCSE level
• Strong knowledge of the KS3/KS4 curriculum and GCSE exam boards
• Ability to build positive, professional relationships with young people
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
• Right to work in the UK
• Teaching or tutoring qualification (
  QTS, PGCE, or equivalent
  )
• Experience supporting students with exam anxiety or low confidence
• Background in tutoring, schools, or alternative education settings
