Salary: £24,000‑£27,000 pa PTE (pro‑rated from £32,000‑£36,000 pa FTE)

The Student Wellbeing Officer provides guidance and support to GBS students throughout their studies, addressing mental health, personal issues, and practical concerns such as housing or finances. The officer acts as a first point of contact for students needing assistance, coordinates with academic teams and external agencies, and reports to the Student Wellbeing Manager. Sponsorship for this position is not available.
Keyresponsibilities
- Manage student referrals and liaise with the Wellbeing Office, academic teams, and internal/external services.
- Provide pastoral support to students with social or emotional issues, ensuring learning accommodations are implemented.
- Maximise student attendance by working with engagement managers to support students throughout their studies.
- Offer immediate assistance on a drop‑in and appointment basis.
- Maintain accurate Wellbeing records, ensuring confidentiality and GDPR compliance.
- Assist in organising health and wellbeing social activities and events for students.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area, preferably health‑related.
- Prior experience in an adjacent or similar role, preferably within higher education.
- Knowledge of the DDA, SENDA, JCQ and reasonable adjustments for students with learning differences.
- Experience working with physical disabilities and specific learning difficulties (e.g., dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD, Asperger’s).
Experience in selecting and using assessment materials, analysing results, and making recommendations. - Ability to discuss student needs sensitively and jointly plan additional support to achieve personal and tutor targets.
