£37,035- £39,513 inclusive of higher cost living allowance - LBN PO1, AfC Band 5 equivalent
Term time (pro-rata) roles are available.
The School Nurse will be professionally responsible and accountable for the assessment of health needs, planning and evaluation of the school health service delivery, for both individuals and groups within a defined school age population.
The job involves working in partnership with schools, parents/carers and other agencies to achieve the best health outcomes for children and young people. The School Nurse works within the School Health Service, to deliver the Healthy Child Programme.

The role will include:
Identifying, supporting, planning, delivering and evaluating health promotion activities in line with the school curriculum andlocally agreed priorities.
Devising appropriate individualised health careplans for the school aged child through continuous development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.
Contribution to the assessment and review ofspecial education and medical needs.
Working collaboratively in partnership with children, young people, parents / carers and other agencies, e.g. education,social services, other healthcare workers and the voluntary sector to meet theneeds of children and young people.

This post is directly employed by the London Borough of Newham, who was the first London borough to offer a fully integrated 0-19 health and social care service afterwe assumed direct responsibility for providing School Nursing services, Health Visiting and Family Nurse Partnership in 2017. Therefore our CYPS directorate will be delivering the 0-19 Healthy Child programme through the Childrens Health Service.

The Children's Health 0-19 service had their CQC inspection in 2021 and rated Goodin all areas.
Job responsibilitiesThe post holder will be professionally responsible and accountable for the assessment of health needs, planning and evaluation of the school health service delivery, for both individuals and groups within a defined school age population. He/ she will work in partnership with schools, parents/carers and other agencies to achieve the best health outcomes for children and young people.
As the key health worker, the associate school nurse will promote the health and wellbeing of the school-aged child so as to enable each child to reach his/her full potential in line with Newhams inclusive education policy. This will help to minimise effects of social, cultural and racial inequality.
The post holder will be required to develop a specialist role in areas of school health.
Responsibilities:
- Provide a service to a caseload of primary/secondary school children as the named school nurse in appropriate settings such as school, clinic, home, youth clubs, special educational units and other educational establishments.
