Dulwich College is seeking an inspiring Teacher of Mathematics to join one of the largest, most vibrant Mathematics departments in the independent sector. WhyMathematics at Dulwich?
Mathematics is the largest subject in the Upper School, with nearly 200 students in Year 12, over 120 studying Further Mathematics, and 8–9 Further Mathematics classes in each year group. There is significant scope to teach across the full age and ability range, from Year 7 through to A Level and Further Mathematics, including opportunities to contribute to our Oxbridge preparation and admissions test coaching.
Our pupils achieve outstanding results:
- Further Mathematics: 80% A*/A
But just as importantly, we place huge value on intellectual curiosity and enjoyment of Mathematics. Our curriculum goes beyond the National Curriculum, supported by:
- Strong participation in UKMT challenges and Olympiads
- National and international competitions, including the Hans Woyda Maths competition
- Our own Royal Institution Mathematics Masterclass series
The department is deeply engaged in partnership and mentoring work, including:
- Teaching opportunities at our partner school, City Heights E-ACT Academy
- Hosting trainee teachers as the South London hub for the National Maths & Physics SCITT
- Excellent professional development for those aspiring to leadership
You will work in the Shackleton Building, with 12 dedicated Mathematics classrooms, extensive whiteboard space, digital projection in every room, and a strong culture of innovative teaching supported by Microsoft Surface devices.
