Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time (Flexible/Part-Time Considered)
Salary: MPS/UPS (Outer London) £39,370–£57,554 + £1,500 Harris Allowance
Start Date: 01/09/2026
About the RoleWe are seeking to appoint a dedicated and inspiring Teacher of Sociology to join our successful and growing team. The successful candidate will teach Sociology across Key Stages 4 and 5 (with potential KS3 contribution depending on timetable), delivering high-quality lessons that engage, challenge and motivate students of all abilities.
This is an excellent opportunity for both Early Career Teachers and experienced practitioners looking to develop within a supportive and ambitious academy.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and deliver high-quality Sociology lessons across KS4 and KS5.
- Develop engaging schemes of work and lesson resources aligned with exam board specifications.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing clear and constructive feedback.
- Maintain high expectations for behaviour, achievement and participation.
- Contribute to curriculum development within the department.
- Act as a form tutor, supporting students’ academic and personal development.
- Engage positively with parents/carers and external agencies where required.
- Participate fully in departmental meetings, CPD and academy life.
The successful candidate will:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Hold a relevant undergraduate degree in Sociology or a related subject.
- Have successful teaching experience at secondary level (teaching practice accepted).
- Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and understanding of effective teaching strategies.
- Have knowledge of GCSE and A-Level Sociology curriculum requirements.
- Show commitment to high expectations and inclusive education.
- Be an effective communicator with strong organisational skills.
- Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Be committed to professional development and continuous improvement.
Experience working within diverse, urban school settings is desirable but not essential.
