Salary dependent on experience and qualifications. Higher rates may be considered for candidates with substantial SEN or medical support experience. Pay is determined in line with school expectations and Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), where applicable.

About the Role:

We are recruiting on behalf of a vibrant and inclusive school in Islington for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 5 pupil with epilepsy.

This role is centred around ensuring the pupil’s safety, wellbeing, and full access to learning throughout the school day. The successful candidate will provide close monitoring, emotional reassurance, and a calm, responsive presence in the classroom and during wider school activities.

You will work collaboratively with teaching staff and the school’s medical team to maintain a safe and supportive environment, enabling the pupil to thrive both academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 5 pupil with epilepsy

• Monitor the pupil’s health and wellbeing throughout the school day

• Respond calmly and appropriately to any seizure-related or medical situations

• Support learning within the classroom, ensuring full curriculum access

• Offer emotional reassurance and encourage independence where appropriate

• Liaise effectively with teachers, SEN staff and the school’s medical team

• Promote inclusion and positive peer relationships

Requirements:

To be eligible for this role and the stated rate of pay, applicants must have:

• Experience supporting children or young people with epilepsy or other medical needs (desirable but not essential – training can be provided)

• A calm, confident and reassuring manner, particularly in health-related situations

Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff and parents

• A caring, proactive and responsible approach

• A genuine commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing

• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
