Position: Education Academy Fellow (eqv to ST1) in GEP
Location: Greater London

Overview

The post is based at Newham Hospital and is part of Barts NHS Trust. It is designed for individuals interested in undertaking further training in a medical specialty and education prior to or during an Out of Programme Experience (OOPE) from their training programme. For OOPE applicants, prior agreement with the relevant Specialty Training Committee (STC) and NHS England is required.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver education programmes for graduate trainees, foundation trainees and interdisciplinary simulation training.
  • Work across sites with other education fellows and contribute to the Education Forum’s structured development programme.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director of Simulation to identify and deliver educational objectives.
  • Develop and maintain a personal development plan covering both service and educational duties.
  • Undergo regular appraisal with clinical supervisors and the Associate Dean for Undergraduates.
Qualifications
  • At least two years of accredited Foundation Programme training.
  • On track to pass your Annual Review of Competence Progression (ARCP).
  • Previous experience in delivering education.
  • Willingness to obtain agreement for OOPE participation with the STC and NHS England.
Working Conditions
  • 12‑month fixed‑term contract, full time.
  • 0.4 WTE allocated to education and 0.6 WTE clinical work within the relevant specialty.
  • Educational hours divided between the Graduate Programme Education Delivery and support for other specialities and disciplines such as simulation and clinical skills.
  • Post covered by the Terms and Conditions of Service of Hospital Medical and Dental Staff (England and Wales).
