PGME Medical Education Fellow

The closing date is 25 February 2026

This is an excellent opportunity for a doctor with an interest in Medical Education, to join Great Ormond Street Hospital as a Fellow in Medical Education. The post holder will be joining the PGME team at a point of great opportunity for innovation in medical education. This role is aimed at a Speciality Registrar seeking to develop their skills in medical education while being able to continue limited clinical activity in the area of their choice.

The post holder will work within the education department four days a week and in their chosen clinical area for the other day. This post is offered as a one year full‑time Fellowship to work with the Director of Medical Education and the PGME Team at Great Ormond Street Hospital to develop and run a number of innovative educational initiatives and maintain teaching and training across the Trust.

The post holder will engage with faculty development supporting the Medical Education Steering Group, developing the Resident Doctors Forum team and helping to establish a robust teaching and training programme across the Trust.

Main duties of the job
  • Support the Postgraduate Medical Education Team (PGME) in the design and delivery of high quality education, working with the Director of Medical Education (DME), Deputy Director of Medical Education (DDME), Head of PGME, Education Leads, College Tutors and the Director of Education.
  • Contribute to the development, delivery, and evaluation of multi‑professional learning opportunities through support of the PGME Operational Group and the Resident Doctors Forum team, to help establish a robust inter‑professional teaching and training programme across the Trust.
  • Develop knowledge of pedagogy, education design and delivery through teaching skills and mixed methodology for evaluation. Through this career development pathway it is expected that the successful candidate will develop knowledge through experiential learning.
  • Work with the Directors of Medical Education, Head of PGME, Education Leads, College Tutors, and the Director of Education, providing training as required for the Trust, with a particular focus on postgraduate medical education.
  • Work with the Deputy Director of Medical Education and Head of PGME to develop and facilitate the annual GOSH conference.
  • Coordinate postgraduate membership teaching and contribute to the organisation of mock exams. At Great Ormond Street Hospital this is mostly (but not exclusively) delivery of support to resident doctors working towards MRCPCH.
