DUCKS is a coeducational Kindergarten & Infants’ School offering an exceptional setting for children aged 6 months to 7 years of age. Surrounded by green open spaces, our dedicated and highly skilled team create a caring and nurturing environment where children grow in confidence as they start that all important learning journey.

We are looking for a Head of DUCKS Music, who will be responsible for the delivery of an ambitious programme of curricular and co-curricular Music to pupils in Pre-Reception up to Year 2.

Key Responsibilities Classroom Teaching (DUCKS & Junior School)
  • Teach 15 periods of classroom Music to Pre-Reception, Reception, Years 1 and 2
  • Teach 2 periods of classroom Music in the Junior School
Practical Music – DUCKS
  • Lead, develop and manage DUCKS Visiting Music Teachers (VMTs)
  • Oversee and organise the 1:1 instrumental teaching programme
  • Develop and enhance the DUCKS singing programme
  • Direct and develop the DUCKS Orchestra
  • Plan and lead annual concerts and events, including choral and instrumental performances, festivals and productions
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate records of all pupils’ practical music provision at DUCKS and liaise with parents
  • Oversee timetabling of individual instrumental lessons
  • Lead or support recruitment of DUCKS Visiting Music Teachers
Co-Curricular & Wider Contribution
  • Ensure high-quality co-curricular Music provision for DUCKS after school
  • Contribute to College concerts and events whenever possible
  • Support key College events, including specific Saturdays (e.g. Founder’s Day)

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and experienced music educator to lead and shape an ambitious early years and junior music provision within a thriving, collaborative department.
