SEN Learning Support Assistant (Secondary)

Brent, London | Full-Time, Temporary

Start Date: February 2026

Pay: £90–£100 per day

Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm (Term Time Only)

About the Role

We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Brent, London for an SEN Learning Support Assistant. This is a full-time temporary position, starting February 2026, with the opportunity to support pupils across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. The school is committed to providing a nurturing and supportive environment where students with Special Educational Needs can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

This is a hands‑on and rewarding role, ideal for someone passionate about making a meaningful difference in young people’s lives.

Requirements
  • Experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs
  • A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to learning support
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Availability to commit for the duration of the role
  • A clear commitment to inclusion, equality, and safeguarding
Desirable (but not essential)
  • Experience working within a secondary school setting
  • Knowledge of EHCPs and SEN support strategies
  • Training in autism awareness, behaviour support, or speech and language
Key Responsibilities
  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support for students with a range of needs, including ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and SEMH
  • Supporting students in and out of the classroom to help them access the curriculum and remain engaged
  • Adapting learning resources and activities under the guidance of the class teacher or SENCo
  • Promoting positive behaviour, emotional regulation, confidence, and independence
  • Supporting students with personal care needs where required, maintaining dignity and safeguarding at all times
  • Observing, monitoring, and recording pupil progress and feeding back to teaching and SEN staff
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and wider support teams
  • Delivering support in line with the secondary curriculum across KS3, KS4 and KS5

Salary dependent on experience and qualifications. Higher rates are reserved for candidates with substantial experience and/or relevant training such a recognised Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent). Pay is determined in line with school expectations and Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), where applicable.
