Whitgift is one of Britain’s leading independent boarding and day schools for boys aged between 10 and 18 years, with approximately 1500 pupils and over one hundred boarding or flexi-boarding pupils. It is set in an attractive 48-acre parkland site in South Croydon enjoying excellent links to London, Surrey and the south coast.

We are seeking to appoint a Learning Skills Mentor Gap Student to join our Learning Support Department. This role is particularly suited to a Gap Year applicant and involves supporting groups of students across a variety of subjects up to IGCSE level, with the potential for some A Level support. We have a particular need for support in maths and sciences.

The successful candidate will help plan and deliver additional workshops to support the curriculum, working closely with subject teachers to reinforce learning strategies. Other responsibilities include mentoring small groups, assessing and reporting on student progress, and providing general administrative support within the Department.

Applicants should be educated to a minimum of A Level / IB. Experience working with children aged 10–18 is advantageous. You should have strong written and verbal communication skills, be organised, adaptable, able to prioritise effectively, and confident working both independently and as part of a team. Good administrative and ICT skills (Excel and Word) are preferred.

In return, we offer a generous salary and benefits package, including a money purchase pension scheme (with Life Assurance), access to an Employee Discount Club, membership of a healthcare plan, discounted school fees for permanent posts within the Foundation, and a supportive working environment with opportunities for training and development.

We welcome applications from all parts of our community as we aspire to attract staff that match the social and cultural diversity of our student intake.
