A forward-thinking secondary school in Abbey Wood (SE2) is seeking confident and proactive SEN TA’s – Abbey Wood to join the team from February half term

Following the appointment of a committed new Headteacher who has previously spent many years at the school, the school is on a clear journey of improving attainment, culture, and outcomes for pupils. This SEN TA – Abbey Wood role is ideal for someone who wants to be visible, hands‑on, and genuinely make a difference rather than blend into the background.

As a SEN TA – Abbey Wood
, you will support pupils across KS3 and KS4 with a range of additional needs, contributing positively to behaviour, engagement, and progress. The school values confident staff who are not wallflowers and who are committed to continuous education and training

What you’ll be doing
  • Supporting students with SEN across KS3 and KS4 in lessons, interventions, and one-to-one sessions
  • Helping pupils regulate behaviour, remain engaged, and access learning effectively
  • Working closely with teachers, the SENCo, and pastoral staff to support EHCPs and individual plans
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with students and acting as a consistent, positive role model
Essential skills / experience
  • Experience supporting young people with SEN, SEMH, or additional needs (school or related settings)
  • Confidence, resilience, and initiative — this role requires a proactive, visible presence
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt your approach to individual needs
  • A genuine commitment to making a difference within a secondary school setting
