The Bridge Academy – a truly exceptional school that’s on a mission to ensure that every student can succeed at a good university or equivalent, thrive in their chosen field and live a great life – is looking for a Science Teacher (plus the possibility of additional responsibility) to join a strong team of specialists.
Key Responsibilities- Delivering consistently good Science lessons.
- Ensuring students are engaged with and enjoy Science.
- Raising the attainment of students and promoting Science across the Academy.
- Working with a range of stakeholders, including parents, other schools and local and national partners.
- Planning and delivering stimulating and challenging lessons which meet the needs of all learners, as well as developing the wider Science curriculum and enrichment activities.
- Working with the Head of Science, the Head of Learning Area, and other subject areas to ensure that Science contributes to the ethos of the Academy and to promote the profile and status of the subject.
- Engaging with Academy curriculum initiatives, particularly those pertaining to Science, including KS2–3 transition, enrichment activities and cross-curricular planning.
- Maintaining high expectations of students’ behaviour and achievement and establishing excellent relationships with students.
- Monitoring and recording the progress of students using Assessment for Learning strategies and in accordance with Academy assessment policies.
- Ensuring the Science classrooms are purposeful, stimulating and safe learning environments.
- Qualified Teacher Status (or working towards).
- A degree or equivalent.
- Relevant specialist qualifications and experience in your subject specialism with the ability to teach Chemistry up to KS5.
- Commitment to improving practice through reflection, appropriate professional development and through being open to advice and feedback.
- Evidence of continuing professional development or relevant research.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of curriculum requirements and developments within your subject specialism.
- Secure knowledge and understanding of how to make effective personalised provision for all students, including those for whom English is an additional language and students who have special educational needs.
- Knowledge and understanding of child protection, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Ability to motivate students and colleagues to recognise and respond to the diverse needs of learners.
