Looking for a new and exciting challenge? Do you have minimum 2 years’ GMC registration? Then think about working in Medical Education within NHS Forth Valley in the heart of Scotland.

NHS Forth Valley Department of Medical Education seeks an enthusiastic resident doctor wishing to develop an interest in teaching and training. Working in association with the Director of Medical Education, and team, the holder of this clinical teaching fellow post will help to provide and enhance the quality of undergraduate teaching and training provided by NHS Forth Valley.

This post will also provide opportunities for involvement in educational research and development. The post holder will also have opportunities to get involved in developing simulation-based education skills in the Scottish Clinical Simulation Centre, which is located adjacent to the Medical Education Department. The successful post holder will be expected to undertake a Certificate or Diploma in Medical Education and will be financially supported in achieving this.

This post is for 12 months in the first instance, subject to satisfactory performance, and is designed to be undertaken as out-of-programme experience (OOPE) during specialty training. It is hoped that the post holder will be able to continue some sessions (one or two each week) of clinical work in Forth Valley hospitals.

Candidates with a minimum of 2 years’ GMC registration by post commencement date of 5th August 2026, a strong interest in medical education, excellent communication skills and a high level of personal initiative are invited to apply. Candidates also require having at least 4 months experience of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at FY2 level or above, within the NHS.

Informal enquiries, which we encourage, should be made to Tanya Somerville, Head of Service (tanya.somervillet), Dr Craig Anderson and Dr Alicia Binning Lovie, current Clinical Teaching Fellows, or to Rachael Angus-Felton, Undergraduate Co-ordinator, or fv.undergraduatemedicaleducationt.

You can look forward to a warm welcome and strong support from colleagues. Our hospital is situated in the heart of Scotland, nestled against the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, and close to vibrant towns that are richly endowed with excellent cultural and sporting facilities, offering good transport links to Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Candidates should provide original and authentic responses to all questions within the application form. The use of artificial intelligence (AI), automated tools, or other third-party assistance to generate, draft, or significantly modify responses is strongly discouraged. By submitting your application, you confirm that all answers are your own work, reflect your personal knowledge, skills and experience, and have not been solely produced or altered by AI or similar technologies.

Failure to comply with this requirement may result in your application being withdrawn from the application process.
