Walking distance to a mainline train station

Horizon Teachers are looking for an experienced and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in Wandsworth on a long‑term basis. This role involves supporting children with special educational needs both in and out of the classroom on a 1:1 and group basis, so a caring and patient nature is essential. The school is within walking distance to a mainline train station and offers opportunities for progression.

What you’ll be doing
  • Supporting children with SEND so they can access learning and feel confident at school.
  • Providing personal care when needed (e.g. toileting, feeding, or mobility support).
  • Working closely with the class teacher to adapt activities and resources to suit individual needs.
  • Encouraging independence, social skills, and self‑esteem.
  • Building trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
What we’re looking for
  • Experience supporting children with SEND in a school setting, or in a similar care‑focused role.
  • Someone who is flexible and is happy to work across a range of year groups.
  • A patient, empathetic, and reliable approach to both learning support and personal care.
  • Good communication skills and a willingness to work as part of a close‑knit team.
  • A genuine passion for helping children achieve their best every day.
Why join Horizon Teachers?
  • A friendly team of education specialists, many of us are ex‑teachers and TAs ourselves.
  • Personalised interview preparation and ongoing support throughout your placement.
  • This is our busiest year yet – we’re placing more teachers and support staff than ever!
  • We take the stress out of the process – no endless application forms to complete.
  • Our staff love working with us – check out our Google reviews!

We’re proud to be an inclusive employer, welcoming applicants from all backgrounds and committed to creating accessible opportunities across education.

As part of our registration process, you’ll need an enhanced DBS check and we’ll need to see and copy your original qualifications before any placement. Teaching roles require Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
