About usUCL’s Psychoanalysis Unit is committed to the study and critical examination of psychoanalysis within the university. Our MSc in Theoretical Psychoanalytic Studies offers unique insight into current psychoanalytic theory taking students from a historical introduction to the most advanced level of theorising in a range of areas. A large proportion of the teaching is delivered by clinicians practicing psychoanalysis who are keen to teach at this relatively sophisticated theoretical level unavailable at other universities.
Aboutthe role
We are looking to recruit a Programme Tutor (maternity cover) at up to 0.7
FTE (Full Time Equivalent) to join the team supporting the MSc in Theoretical Psychoanalytic Studies. The role is offered as a fixed term maternity cover post for 12 months in the first instance, expected to start in September 2026. The role involves assessment, selection and interviewing, programme organisation, teaching, dissertation supervision, and student mentoring, working with an international group of students who will at times need high levels of support.
This role is eligible for hybrid working with a minimum of 60% on site.
About youApplicants should have membership or candidate status in the British Psychoanalytic Society, good and broad knowledge of psychoanalytic theory, and experience of teaching psychoanalytic theory. The postholder will work with the core teaching team to recruit suitable students for the programme, develop course content, ensure high quality assessment and timely feedback, plan the timetable, and support the wider teaching team, which includes multiple guest lecturers most of whom also have many other commitments.
