Overview

We are seeking an exceptional and ambitious leader to become our Head of Drama and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of performing arts within our academy. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and visionary practitioner who believes wholeheartedly in the power of Drama to transform young people's lives. Weare looking for a leader who sees Drama as a vehicle for developing confidence, creativity, communication, resilience and self-expression, and who is committed to ensuring that every student can experience the benefits of a high-quality arts education.

As Head of Drama, you will have the opportunity to lead the next stage of the department's development. Weare seeking someone who is excited by the prospect of reviewing and enhancing the curriculum, developing a compelling vision for Drama, and building a thriving culture of performance and participation that places the subject at the heart of school life.

The successful candidate will be an excellent classroom practitioner with high expectations for all students and a commitment to delivering engaging, inclusive and ambitious learning experiences. They will be able to inspire students across all key stages and create a curriculum that develops both artistic excellence and a lifelong appreciation of the performing arts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Champion the value of Drama across the academy and wider community.
  • Develop and implement a rich, ambitious and engaging Drama curriculum.
  • Build students' confidence, creativity and communication skills through high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Create meaningful opportunities for performance, enrichment and student leadership.
  • Foster a culture where all students feel able to participate, take risks and express themselves.
  • Lead with energy, enthusiasm and a relentless commitment to improvement.

This role offers genuine scope to make your mark. We are seeking someone who is not simply looking to maintain an established provision, but who is excited by the opportunity to shape, influence and grow the department. You will be supported by a leadership team that values creativity, innovation and the important role that the arts play in a broad and ambitious education.

The successful candidate will be a reflective and inspiring leader with a strong subject background, a track record of securing positive outcomes for students, and the vision and determination to establish Drama as a vibrant and integral part of academy life.
