Long Term Futures is currently seeking a confident and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a thriving secondary school in the London Borough of Waltham Forest. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled education professional who is passionate about supporting young people and contributing to high-quality teaching and learning across Key Stages 3 and 4.

Working closely with teaching staff and senior leaders, you will play a key role in supporting student progress, delivering interventions, and providing classroom cover where required. The successful candidate will be confident managing groups of students, leading pre-planned lessons, and supporting pupils to achieve their academic and personal potential.

Key Duties

Delivering pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects in the absence of teaching staff.
Supporting students across Key Stages 3 and 4 to improve attainment, engagement, and confidence.
Leading targeted intervention programmes for individuals and small groups.
Providing academic support to students who require additional guidance.
Supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH needs, or barriers to learning.
Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teaching and pastoral staff.
Promoting positive behaviour and implementing behaviour management strategies in line with school policies.
Assisting with examination preparation and revision support sessions.
Working collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, pastoral teams, and parents to support student outcomes.
Contributing to a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

Candidate Requirements

Previous experience working as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Mentor, or similar role within a secondary school setting.
Experience delivering lessons or supervising classes independently.
Strong knowledge of the secondary curriculum and the challenges facing young people.
Excellent classroom management and behaviour management skills.
The ability to engage and motivate students from a range of backgrounds and abilities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
A proactive, organised, and adaptable approach to supporting teaching and learning.
A genuine passion for education and helping young people succeed.
HLTA status is desirable but not essential for candidates with relevant experience.
An Enhanced DBS registered (Child Workforce) on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
