Job Summary

This is a unique opportunity to execute the strategy that ensures our support offering for apprentices with additional learning needs and those facing wider barriers to success is industry leading. You will be one of two of the internal experts and owners of solutions related to Additional Learning Needs (ALN), directly impacting apprentice success, achievement, and retention.

In addition to ALN responsibilities, you will be the operational lead for regularly reviewing data to identify and address outcome gaps for learners who may face systemic barriers. You will plan targeted interventions to ensure equitable outcomes in line with the Ofsted framework for inclusion.

Key Responsibilities

Specifically you will:

  • ALN Specialism: Serve as one of two - go-to specialists for all matters relating to ALN legislation, statutory guidance, compliance requirements, and best practice in this field.

  • Strategic Evolution: Collaborate closely with the ALN Manager and ALN Specialist to drive and execute strategic initiatives that evolve our support offering, moving beyond day-to-day compliance to create and execute a market-leading accessibility strategy.

  • ILP Ownership: Develop and own the implementation of individual learning plans (ILPs) for each learner with ALN, ensuring tailored support and guidance that is evidence-backed and in line with industry standards. (This will be split between you and another ALN Specialist)

  • Data & Gap Analysis: Regularly review achievement, attendance, and engagement data for learners across diverse demographics (e.g., age, gender identity, ethnic and socio-economic background, care-leaver status, etc.) to identify and monitor outcome disparities.

  • Intervention Planning: Design and execute specific intervention plans and support activities for learner groups identified as having lower achievement or engagement rates compared to their peers.

  • Coach & Instructor Training: Plan and deliver practical training and guidance for coaches and instructors on how to recognise and remove barriers to learning for specific groups, ensuring a holistic approach to support.

  • High-Quality Support Delivery: Deliver timely, appropriate, tailored, and high-quality support to apprentices with ALN in line with policies and internal SLAs, helping them to overcome barriers and achieve program success.

  • Cross-Functional Partnering: Partner cross-functionally with teams designing learner-facing processes or materials to ensure both Additional Learning Needs and wider inclusion factors are considered at the source.

  • Inclusivity Guardian: Act as a guardian of inclusivity, ensuring our workflows are built to enable every apprentice to succeed, rather than retrofitting support later.

  • Documentation & Compliance: Own and maintain accurate records and documentation of support provided, ensuring that evidence needed for funding are meticulously tracked and readily available.

  • Ofsted Alignment: Ensure all inclusion activities, data tracking, and intervention evidence are maintained to the standards required by current regulatory guidance and frameworks, specifically regarding the achievement of under-represented or disadvantaged groups.
