Position Overview

SEN Teaching Assistant (SEND TA) – London Borough of Camden. Salary: £25,000 – £28,000 per annum (or £100 – £120 per day).

Contract:

Full‑time, temporary to permanent.

Start Date:

September 2026 or sooner.

A specialist SEN school in Camden is seeking dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistants to support children and young people aged 5‑16 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs, and associated learning difficulties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support pupils with SEN, SEND, ASC, ADHD and SEMH needs.
  • Deliver learning support within the classroom.
  • Assist with behaviour management and emotional regulation.
  • Support individual education and EHCP targets.
  • Promote independence, confidence and engagement.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and multidisciplinary teams.
Requirements
  • Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, SEND Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Support Worker or Care Worker desirable.
  • Experience supporting Autism, ADHD or SEMH needs preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patient, resilient and nurturing approach.
  • Passion for Special Educational Needs and inclusive education.
  • Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one.
