The Opportunity

Long Term Futures are seeking a passionate and resilient SEN Maths & Science Teacher to join a specialist school in the Lambeth area. The provision supports pupils across Key Stage 1 - Key Stage 4 with a range of complex needs, including SEMH, Autism (ASD), trauma‑related needs, and communication difficulties. The school adopts a trauma‑centred therapeutic education model, recognising that positive relationships, emotional regulation, and wellbeing are fundamental to successful learning outcomes.

This is a rewarding opportunity to deliver engaging Maths and Science lessons while supporting pupils to rebuild confidence, develop resilience, and achieve meaningful qualifications.

Your

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver differentiated Maths and Science lessons for pupils with SEN
  • Adapt learning to meet EHCP targets and individual educational needs
  • Use trauma‑informed and therapeutic approaches to support engagement and progress
  • Create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, adapting teaching approaches where necessary
  • Work collaboratively with therapists, pastoral teams, SENCOs, and support staff
  • Prepare pupils for GCSEs, Functional Skills, and other appropriate qualifications
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching Maths and/or Science at secondary level
  • Experience working with pupils with SEN, SEMH, or trauma‑related needs
  • Strong understanding of differentiated teaching and inclusive practice
  • Excellent behaviour management and relationship‑building skills
  • Knowledge of trauma‑informed approaches and therapeutic education (desirable)
  • Commitment to safeguarding, wellbeing, and improving outcomes for vulnerable young people
