Outstanding Secondary School in Tower Hamlets seeks an organised and practical Design Technology graduate or Design Technology specialist to work as a Design Technology Technician, starting in September 2026 on a part time basis.
£21,699 - £31,254, Permanent contract, September 2026, Part time.

As a Design Technology Technician you will help support this aim.
Job Role - Design Technology Technician- Responsible to the Head of Design Technology for the technical service to the Design & Technology Faculty.
- Ensure that the practical needs of the teaching staff are met in accordance with School schemes of learning.
- Work cohesively with a team of Design Technology Technicians.
- Ensure all Design Technology equipment is well maintained.
- Stocktake resources within Design Technology to maintain minimum stock levels.
- Ensure the Design Technology resource room is well organised, accessible, and user friendly.
- Keep subject knowledge up to date and attend relevant training.
- Support wider school activities such as open days.
- Attend faculty meetings to brief staff on new equipment or practical ideas.
- Disposal and arrange for the disposal of waste materials.
- Remain up to date with the latest health and safety protocols regarding hazardous materials.
- Maintain appropriate stock levels of apparatus or material, including maintaining stock records.
- Place and progress orders, ensuring expenditure is in accordance with department policy and check deliveries.
- Identify equipment needs in consultation with teaching and technician staff and help select new items of equipment.
- Organise and store equipment, apparatus and materials in accordance with Borough regulations where appropriate.
- Participate in developing Design Technology Faculty's practical and technical facilities to meet teaching/learning needs.
- Maintain and arrange for maintenance and repair of Faculty apparatus and equipment.
- Ensure the maintenance of Design Technology services and facilities, liaising with premises staff as appropriate.
- Prepare apparatus, material and set up equipment for use in practical classes.
- Set up and occasionally carry out demonstrations.
- Retrieve and clean apparatus after use.
- Construct and modify apparatus.
- Ensure practical requirements of assessments are met.
- Maintain satisfactory safety and security standards in accordance with School/Borough policy.
- Perform other appropriate technician duties as requested by the Head of Design Technology.
