Position: Higher Level Teaching Assistant
Location: Greater London

Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Primary School.

Location:

Borehamwood, Hertfordshire. Pay: £110–£135 per day. Job Type: Full‑Time, Temporary (3 Days per Week, Term Time Only).

Start Date:

September 2026.

We are seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join a popular one‑form entry primary school in Borehamwood, providing high‑quality support across KS1 and KS2. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident Higher Level Teaching Assistant who enjoys leading learning, supporting pupil progress and working as part of a collaborative school team.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver high‑quality PPA cover across Year 1 to Year 6, following teachers’ planning and ensuring continuity of learning.
  • Lead whole‑class learning in the teachers’ absence, maintaining a positive and purposeful classroom environment.
  • Plan and deliver targeted intervention groups in reading, writing and maths.
  • Support pupils with SEND and additional learning needs to access the curriculum successfully.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to class teachers.
  • Work closely with teachers and support staff to maintain high standards of behaviour, engagement and achievement.
Requirements
  • HLTA status or proven experience working at HLTA level within a primary school.
  • Recent experience delivering whole‑class cover and interventions across KS1 and KS2.
  • Strong knowledge of English, maths and the primary curriculum.
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • A proactive, flexible and team‑focused approach.
  • Experience supporting pupils with autism or other SEND needs (desirable).
